Google Observation Of Map laBeling gAme aka GOOMBA - ezrhino

Post  Sweet Baby Jon on Fri May 16, 2008 2:20 pm

This is GOOMBA. the acronym is really all we were after. The words above are a sad attempt at trying to sound official.
The object of the game is to go to google maps, and take a screen shot of a location. You then can post it on this thread and others will attempt to find it. Do not post a new location unless you have found the current one, or unless the poster of the unknown location claims victory. Instead of playing with the whole world we have decided to play just with Utah County, aka Mushroom Kingdom, first.

How to win: If you are the poster you win by not having your location guessed for three(3) business days. Everyday that goes by without someone guessing it you must give a hint (ie. a written clue or a picture[streetview]). You should pick a location of a landmark, or something interesting. Do not pick obscure random locations that have no significance to anyone here on Chains. That is just not fun for anyone. You can also win by correctly identifying the location before anyone else. You may guess as many times as you want, and if you win you can choose the next location. You may also choose to let someone else do the next unknown location. The current champion shall reign over the rest of us Goombas as Goomba King! shown below.

this is gender neutral because as we all know Goomba do not have genitalia. So kathy you can be Goomba King too! Even if the game is tedious and boring it is worth it to be known as the reigning Goomba King. Here are some examples:

Mushroom Kingdom photo 1:

Hint 1: "Splash into Summer!"

Hint2:

That was an example of a good one. (maybe too easy)

Mushroom Kingdom bad example:

Hint 1: "Visitors Welcome"

Hint 2 :

This is a bad example because it is too ambiguos. There are a billion churches in utah county. It would be acceptable if it where one someone here attended. Also the picture is cropped too small. Do not crop the picture small. make sure that you can still see the zoom bar on the map. also both the hints just help solidify that it is indeed a church. There is no way from the hints to identify it as a unique location, for example, mountains or something else we could see that would give us a frame of reference. If there is something we didn't cover ask Stephen or Jon. Also if you have any ideas let us know.
